. there is about 6% of u.s. adolescents that are clinically depressed. that's not just sad. it's in a deep state that need help of one type or another. whether it's counseling or drugs or whatever. they need some help. they're relatively easy to identify. and you can do it in a simple screening process. for very little money. we could have every kid when you get your high school physical, you also have to get checked out, or periodically before graduation. because the thing is, most depressives, kids want to -- they want help. and they will tell adults. usually the two adults they will not tell are their mom and their dad. and that's actually part of the screening protocol is that parents can't be in the room, because they will usually tell a teacher or a counselor or a family doctor. they will tell an adult, but they hide it from their parents because they're embarrassed, ashamed, all sorts of different reasons. so the parents are often blind to it because the child is sort of blocking their view. so parents have difficulty. but yeah, we can do so much. >> each one of these things seems like it

on and take a look at some other data here. what's the biggest threat to the u.s. economy? slow job growth, 9%. moving on here to the next one, the euro crisis, that's come way down, 11%. the next one is going to be 33%. the winner, the fiscal cliff, 35%. what are people saying about the fiscal cliff? we have people write in, and i believe that's what we'll look at next. we'll look at the probability of a u.s. recession. that has come up. in part because of the fiscal cliff concerns. it was 19% back in march. a high of 36%. so we're halfway between the low and the high pretty much. this is a 13-month high for the probability of recession. now we want to show you what people are saying about the fiscal cliff, allowing the economy to go over the cliff would be extremely reckless, says donnelly. they're going out to try to help the unemployment rate. wall street doesn't believe it's going to happen. they do believe it will help lower mortgage rates and the unemployment rate and not a lot of help expected for the stock market. melissa? >> steve, thanks for that. that's interesting stuff there. >>

. in the marine industry, about 30% of the dealers in the u.s. went under during the recession. isn't that extraordinary? but brunswick's dealer remained flat. they held in much better than the competition. they used the economic weakness to take share. plus the company took out $450 million in fixed costs during the downturn to come out even stronger than ever. that's the brunswick we're dealing with today. second, if higher taxes going forward mean there's slightly less demand for motorboats and fishing boats, you know what? i think that could be more than offset by the additional demand created by all those boats that sandy damaged or destroyed. and even before sandy, things were getting better for brunswick. over the last decade, the age of the average powerboat in the water has gone from 15 years old to 21 years old. wow! i thought cars at 11 years was a lot. that means there's a ton of pent-up replacement demand. we saw the same thing happen in the automobile market where the average car on the road got so old that it has led to a new surge. that's what that $15 million car bu

intellectual, too. >> opec and the fed, hey, u.s. production up. let's go to sharon epperson at the nymex. >> oil has really been on the move since the open a few minutes ago. not so much opec, which still packed with the current quota around 30 million barrels per day, it is producing more than that. but we are hearing, of course, from opec itself that saudi arabia has reduced its production in november to the lowest level in a year. so that seems to be a way that they will adhere closer to the current quota. we're also looking at the latest report from the international energy agency which may have more of an impact where oil prices are going in this session. they're looking for slightly demand in 2013. and they're pointing to china for the reason. we're anticipating we'll get the report from the energy department at 10:30 a.m. on oil supplies. the expectation is for a slight decline in food supplies. but we did see a major build in the industry report, if that is confirmed we could see these gains short-lived. back to you. >> all right. thank you very much, sharon epperson. we've got a

the way that jim demint has built his influence in politics. he has treated all of his time in the u.s. senate not as an opportunity to get anything passed. he has no legislative record at all. he spent his time in the senate trying to become a kingmaker, trying to make the republican party over in his own image. trying to shape other people's races. to have more conservative litmus tests for republican candidates. so jim demint was elected for the first time in '04. he was re-elected in 2010. they serve six-year terms. right? so jim demint doesn't have to face re-election again in south carolina until 2016. but jim demint just quit. a couple of weeks ago. he just announced with no warning that he was leaving the senate right now, immediately, before his term was out. and today jim demint gave his farewell speech, which including this very telling and weird moment. >> i hope that we can create more common ground between the political parties by showing everyone that ideas that work for their constituents and our constituents are right in front of our faces if we're willing to set aside

susan rice, the u.s. ambassador to the united nations, withdrew her name as a possible secretary of state. hillary clinton is going to be leaving in january. she's moving on. she wanted one term and now the chairman of the senate foreign relathions committee, john kerr will be nominated. probably early in the afternoon the president will have a formal announcement asking that the senate confirm john kerry as the secretary of state. the hearings will take place in january. they would very much like to have john kerry in place as the new secretary of state around the time of the inauguration, january 20th, and they would then be able to go forward. for all practical purposes john kerry will certainly carry forward the foreign policy initiatives put forward by hillary clinton. they're on the same page on a lot of these issues but the president of the united states, as you know, carol, he determines u.s. international policy, national security, and john kerry will now have that mission. it opens up the senate seat in the state of maof massachusetts there's already been speculation th
